Connection Database / Schema Options
When setting up a connection, the Database field (MySQL) or Schema field (PostgreSQL) lets you specify which database or schema Querious focuses on when you open a connection. This field has two modes: Initial and Exclusive.
Initial #
With the Initial option, the value you enter is used as the starting selection in the primary sidebar when the connection opens — the sidebar is focused on that database or schema right away, but you are free to switch to any other database or schema at any time using the popup at the top of the sidebar.
This is the default behavior and suits most workflows: you get the convenience of landing in the right place without being locked there.
Exclusive #
With the Exclusive option, Querious locks the connection to the specified database or schema. The schema popup in the primary sidebar is hidden entirely, and the sidebar always shows only the contents of that one database or schema. It is not possible to switch to another schema within the same connection.
This mode is especially useful when:
- You work exclusively with one schema and do not want the overhead of loading others.
- Your server has a large number of schemas and you want Querious to limit background activity — object enumeration, autocompletion indexing, and other background work — to just the one schema you care about.
Leaving the Field Empty #
If the Database / Schema field is left blank, Querious connects without a default selection and shows all databases or schemas in the primary sidebar from the start.
