Opening SQLite Databases
A SQLite database is a single file on disk. There is no host, no port, no user, and no password — the connection settings are one field.
Opening a Database #
To open a SQLite database
-
Create a new connection and choose SQLite.
-
Set Database file to the file you want to open.
-
Connect.
Saving the connection is worth doing for a file you return to — see Saved Connections. creates a new, empty database instead of opening an existing one.
What Is Different #
SQLite is a library, not a server, and the parts of Querious that manage a server are not present for a SQLite connection.
| Area | With SQLite |
|---|---|
| Primary sidebar | One database, containing its tables, views, triggers, and indexes. |
| Content and Structure | Work as they do elsewhere, within SQLite's own capabilities — its type system and its limited ALTER TABLE support. |
| Query view | Works as usual. |
| Server view | Contains only Server Transcript. There is no server to have users, variables, processes, or logs. |
| Table Operations | Truncate… only. |
