Table View Options

Per-table settings for how the Table Content view searches, sorts, loads, and shows a table.

A table's View Options let you customize some display and behavior for that one specific table.

To access the view options, right-click on the row list, or use the action menu below the list, and choose Show View Options….

what's shown when you select it, which columns appear and in what order, which large columns are loaded, and how rows are highlighted. Use them for tables you open often, such as hiding audit columns you never read, or opening a jobs table already filtered to failures. If any columns are hidden, you can also click the hidden-columns marker at the left edge of the table.

Search & Sort #

Choose what the table shows when you select it.

Search & Sort options
Option What it does
Default Search A saved search to apply every time you select the table, such as status = 'failed' on a jobs table. None shows all rows.
Sort By The column to sort by, Ascending or Descending. None uses the server's natural order.
Limit to … rows The number of rows to load at a time for this table. Leave it empty to use Limit results to in the Table Content preferences.

Saved Searches #

The default search must be a saved search. To save one:

  1. Set up the search in the search bar at the top of the Table Content view.
  2. Open the first popup in the search bar and choose Saved SearchesSave Search….
  3. Name it.

Saved searches are also in that menu for applying by hand. Rename or delete them with Edit Saved Searches….

Columns #

Column options

Column What it does
Column Ordering The order columns appear in. Drag columns to reorder them, or use the up and down arrow buttons. The reset button puts them back in the table's own order.
Visible Uncheck a column to hide it. The check-all button shows every column, and the uncheck-all button hides everything except the primary key. Primary key columns can't be hidden.
Always Load Whether the column's values are loaded with the rows. Default follows the Table Content preferences for large column types. Yes always loads it. Unloaded never loads it until you ask.

Reordering and hiding columns here only changes the display. The table itself is never altered.

Unloaded Columns #

Large text and binary columns can make browsing slow, since every row's value has to come over the network.

You can override per-table, the app-wide preferences, to choose which columns are left UNLOADED by default.

An unloaded value shows as a placeholder and is loaded when you click it, or for a whole row with Load All Values in Row in the contextual menu.

Use Always Load to override the preferences for one column: Yes for a short TEXT column you always want to read, or Unloaded for a large VARCHAR or JSON column you rarely need.

Conditional Highlighting #

Color rows and cells based on their values, such as highlighting overdue orders or failed jobs. Rules have a condition and one or more color effects, and can be copied between tables. See Conditional Highlighting.
