Querious Help 5

Working with Large Servers

The primary sidebar in the Content and Structure view by default shows all schemas (and all tables within them etc). You also have features like ViewGo To… and autocomplete which need to index all of the schemas and tables so that you can jump to them quickly.

Querious is designed with performance in mind everywhere, but when connecting to servers with literally many hundreds or thousands of databases, and tens of thousands tables, this can be of course be quite slow to fetch all of that data and keep it up to date!

Here are some tips to make connecting to servers with such a large number of databases and tables, much smoother.

Servers with Many Schemas #

Use the Exclusive mode in your connection settings to specifically tell Querious "only ever look at this one schema." If you have hundreds of schemas, using this mode literally will be hundreds of times more efficient!

See Database / Schema Options for Initial vs Exclusive.

Schemas with Many Tables #

If your schema has hundreds or thousands of tables, the most demanding background work is when Querious looks up column names to provide autocompletion in the Query view. To avoid that, you can disable column name autocompletion.
