Query Assistant
The handiest thing in an SQL client is never having to write SQL!
The Query Assistant is an AI chat in the Query view's right sidebar. Describe the queries you want it to write, and boom — out they come. You'll be amazed at how quickly you'll love this.
Note: The Query Assistant only generates queries — it never executes queries, and never has access your data in your database tables.
What to Use It For #
- Writing queries you can describe but not quickly write, such as "customers who ordered in March but not April, with their total spend".
- Joins across tables you don't know well. The assistant reads the foreign keys in the table definitions and works out the join path.
- Explaining a query. Paste one from a log or a colleague and ask what it does, or why it's slow.
- Rewriting a query, such as turning a subquery into a join, or adding a filter. Follow-up prompts refer back to earlier answers in the same conversation.
- Writing DDL: a new table, an index for a slow query, or a migration step.
Accuracy and Safety #
The Query Assistant's answers are generated by third-party AI providers, not by Araelium. See the AI Assistant Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for more information.
Credits #
Each prompt uses credits from your Araelium Account. What it costs depends on:
- How long your prompt, and how long your conversation is.
- How much schema DDL the assistant has to read to answer. If you let it look at the CREATE statements of your tables etc.
- The Reasoning Complexity used to answer you. Ex: Standard uses more credits than Fast.
